Far From Men: Viggo Mortensen

In David Oelhofffen’s Loin des hommes (Far from Men) a French-speaking Viggo Mortensen plays Daru, a teacher in a small village school in the Algerian mountains in 1954 when colonial conflict is imminent as Algeria begins its struggle for independence. Mohamed (Reda Kateb) arrives at Daru’s doorstep, and the two men set out on a journey which will change them both forever.

Director David Oelhoffen and actors Viggo Mortensen and Reda Kateb joined the film’s composers Nick Cave and Warren Ellis at the 58th BFI London Film Festival screening:
