EastEnd Cabaret: Sexual Tension
EastEnd Cabaret: Sexual Tension
by Joanna Orland
From the moment EastEnd Cabaret enter the room, it is obvious that this is going to be one fun & sexy night. EastEnd Cabaret’s new show Sexual Tension is on the right side of highly sexual without being overly perverse. Bernadette Byrne is a force to be reckoned with as she approaches the stage on her mode of transport – the Manbeast. Half-man half-woman Victor Victoria is as trusty as ever on the piano adding to the fiery chemistry of this show.
The duo power through their set paying tribute to classic cabaret tropes, but with their own contemporary voices front and center. Their songs and musicianship are terrific. Their dynamic is ever-charged with sexuality and humour. The courtship of their audience is intense, with audience members being mostly willing participants in this remarkable show.
All of their songs are great, and they give it their all when performing each one. However, one in particular is a true standout in Sexual Tension. It may not quite be on the same level as their last hit Danger Wank, but their German techno cum face remix song was fantastic and executed to perfection. This show deserves a repeat watch just to again see them perform this instant classic!
The true sentiment of how good EastEnd Cabaret are is that I have seen them on many occasions, but always find their shows and energy fresh and exciting. Their songs are awesome and their personalities fun. They truly are cabaret superstars.
