With hypnotic visuals that probably brainwashed me to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and hit after hit after hit, it’s no wonder that Scottish sensation Franz Ferdinand sold out the HMV Apollo in Hammersmith and had the entire crowd on their feet rockin out to the tuneage!
This band is destined for legendary status. After 5 songs into the set I was convinced they must’ve played all their hits already and wondered what was left for the rest of the night! But with each song I kept realizing every single song they’ve recorded is a hit in its own right. They are as far from one hit wonders as can possibly be, as each song is recognizable and had the audience singing along word for word.
They are one of the tightest most energetic live bands around and have great stage presence. Lead singer Alex Kapranos really comes into his own on stage with his adorable scissor kicks and sexy vocals that concluded each song with his trademark “Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah”. The band’s crazy ‘everyone on the drums’ moment was ace and came close to turning the gig into a blazing rave!
Only one complaint – wish they had more time to play cuz I could’ve listened all night! Will have to settle for their latest CD out now… latest single No You Girls will be out April 6th and for those of you who may have doubted previous effort Ulysses, prepare to rediscover Franz Ferdinand with this classic number!
