The stars and director of psychosexual thriller Red Sparrow descended upon London for the film’s premiere at the Vue West End. Star Jennifer Lawrence was fairly elusive, but we managed to chat with the likes of Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Nicole O’Neill, director Francis Lawrence and had a brief “hello” with the legendary Jeremy Irons.

Other highlights included Matthias Schoenaerts just in general, and a cheeky Joel Edgerton sneaking up behind us to josh around – on two occasions.

“When I grew up, and when I was fantasizing about being a spy when I was a kid, I saw these people as superhuman. Yeah, there’s a certain sense of elevated experience about what they do for a living and how they live their lives, but at the end of the day they still put their socks on in the morning and, you know, go to sleep at night and wake up and cook breakfast… And I found that the most interesting part – demystifying the whole spy experience.” – Joel Edgerton

“This film doesn’t want to be political, it wants to be very thrilling cinematic experience. Which also resonates through our actual reality, of course. But it doesn’t wanna demonize the Russian government or polarize people’s opinions about Russia or America. It wants to be a very entertaining, strong film with resonance to the reality, that’s true. But without judging or demonizing any government.” – Matthias Schoenaerts

“I changed the ending. So, fans of the book – this is a different ending and you’ll be surprised.” – Francis Lawrence

“Jennifer was amazing to work with …. she’s totally normal, just rocks up to set and then just smashes out something really quite incredible.” – Nicole O’Neill

“What’s going on here?” – Joel Edgerton

“Hello” – Jeremy Irons
