Tomorrowland: A World Beyond Press Conference

George Clooney lit up the lavish Claridges Ballroom this afternoon, where he appeared to promote his latest movie Tomorrowland: A World Beyond. Effortlessly stylish in a leather jacket and jeans ensemble, Clooney was joined by his co-stars Britt Robertson (Cake; The First Time) and Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman; Dark Shadows), and director, and co-writer producer Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille). Made by Disney, Tomorrowland is a sci-fi adventure inspired by an existing section of Disneyland that had been built in the 1950’s to celebrate technology and innovation. The film, Bird explained, is an homage to Uncle Walt himself and “embodies both aspects of the future – the scary and the wondrous”.

Clooney plays Frank Walker, a former boy-genius turned middle-aged “disenchanted grump”. But things are set to change when Frank and the young, wide-eyed Cassey Newton (Robertson) are brought together through fantastic means to embark on a madcap romp through time and space. Speaking about his latest project, Clooney said, “‘I loved how hopeful it was”, going on to reveal that even though he sees himself as an optimist, he doesn’t usually appear in films that are optimistic.

Your chance to see Clooney’s more hopeful side starts 22nd of May.
