The Dublin Castle has been going strong since Madness put it on the map as a loved music venue in the 70’s. Its sticky backroom have seen the best of rock, ska, punk, britpop, and, um, Amy Winehouse.

Tonight, Alias Kid took the stage, first of a fabulous lineup of new talent doing the rounds.
AK have already had some support from the likes of Alan McGee, Happy Mondays, and um, Bez. Their UK appearances have been well received, and the popular beat combo sound mixed in with a touch of Oasis / Jesus and Mary Chain / Hawkwind / Stone Roses grit and gunk fits nicely into the Dublin Castle.

I could have written down the titles of the songs, but I was struggling with an irritating buzzing sound from the venue’s setup, as were all the acts. Anyhow, all you need to know can be found on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/aliaskid.

AK performed very well, to an albeit industry facing audience tonight, but their reputation out there amongst the young, loudness-appreciating, testosterone fueled party people is growing and growing. It’ll be fun to see them settle in to the Dublin Castle again in the future.
