Jameson Empire Awards Nominations Announced

Voted for by Empire magazine readers, the 2014 nominations for the Jameson Empire Awards have been announced.  These awards are much less formal than other industry ceremonies such as The Oscars or BAFTA Awards as these are voted for entirely by the cinema-going public, who can now continue to vote on the final shortlisted nominees.

Known to acknowledge those titles often overlooked by established awards ceremonies, the list of nominees is much more diverse and true to cinema audiences’ tastes.  For example, where Filth and James McAvoy were snubbed at this year’s BAFTAs, here Filth finds itself in the Best Film category, and James McAvoy in Best Actor.

In addition to the winners in each of the usual categories, British director Paul Greengrass (the Bourne trilogy, Captain Phillips) will receive the Empire Inspiration Award at the ceremony which takes place on March 30th, 2014.
