The Darjeeling Limited

a Wes Anderson film

by Joanna Orland

I first saw the Darjeeling Ltd at the London Film festival a few weeks ago (see full review below). Unfortunately I saw it within the span of 2 weeks that I was watching at least one film a day, making it a bit hard to remember most films in great detail. Lucky for the Darjeeling Ltd that it is particularly noteworthy and I can continue writing this rave review.

Starring the ever-charming Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and co-writer Jason Schwartzman, this latest Wes Anderson film sets itself in India with the usual quirky set of characters and stunning visuals that we’ve grown accustomed to with Wes’ work.

Since i’ve already written such a glowing review in my London Film Festival coverage below, it’s time to delve a bit deeper into the making of this film. And what better way to do that than hear from the makers themselves at the Darjeeling Ltd press conference featuring Adrien, Jason, Wes and a couple of other lovely people who brought us this film.

Jason, Wes and Adrien discuss filming in India: – note the cheap shot Adrien takes at sound recordists 🙁

Jason on writing:

Jason and Wes on shooting the story:

Music and the wonders of Ebay:

Jason is fascinated by my iPod’s recording abilities then does an impromptu audition for apple commercial. Eat your heart out Justin Long:

So there you have it folks. They love India, they love music and they love my iPod. What more do you need to know?

The Darjeeling Ltd is out in UK theatres now! Check your local listings and this picture I took of Jason Schwartzman sans moustache:
